Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Chapter 8 ("Chapter 8", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information in connection with the website chapter8.org (the "Site") and our peer-membership program and related services (together, the "Services").

Chapter 8 is operated by a company registered in Israel (the "Company"), which is the controller responsible for your personal information.

We operate in Israel and the United States, and members and applicants may be located elsewhere. By using the Site or submitting information to us, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy.

The information we collect

Information you provide directly. When you complete our enquiry / application form, or otherwise contact us, we collect the information you choose to give, which may include:

  • Full name and professional title
  • Email address
  • Current company name
  • Annual turnover range and number of employees
  • LinkedIn profile
  • Any bio, CV or other file you upload (PDF, Word or image, up to 10MB)
  • Any other information you include in your message or correspondence with us

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, links clicked, and dates and times of access. We use Google Analytics and marketing / advertising pixels for these purposes (see Section 6).

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as health, religion, or political views) through the Site. Please do not submit such information unless we specifically request it.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Review and respond to your enquiry or application, and assess suitability for membership;
  • Contact you to begin and continue the conversation about the program;
  • Provide, operate, personalize and improve the Site and Services;
  • Communicate with you about cohorts, sessions, the community and related updates;
  • Understand how the Site is used and measure the effectiveness of our marketing;
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Site;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms; and
  • Establish, exercise or defend legal claims where necessary.

Legal bases. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on: your consent (for example, marketing cookies and optional communications); the performance of, or steps prior to, a contract (assessing and progressing your application); our legitimate interests in operating and promoting the Services and keeping the Site secure; and compliance with legal obligations.

Confidentiality

Chapter 8 is built on confidentiality. Details you submit through the application form are held in confidence and are read only by Chapter 8's founder and the limited personnel and service providers who need access to operate the Services.

This Policy describes how we handle personal information generally. Any specific confidentiality commitments made to members, such as a signed confidentiality pact before a cohort, apply in addition to this Policy.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers / processors: companies that host our Site, manage our forms and email, provide analytics and marketing services, and store files, acting on our behalf and under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms.
  • Facilitators and faculty: where relevant to delivering a cohort or the program, and subject to confidentiality.
  • Legal and protective reasons: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property or safety of Chapter 8, our members, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, in which case personal information may be transferred subject to this Policy.

Cookies & tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, analyze usage, and measure marketing.

  • Essential cookies are necessary for the Site to function.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand how visitors use the Site.
  • Marketing / advertising pixels help us measure and improve campaigns and may allow third parties to deliver relevant advertising.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through any cookie banner or preferences tool on the Site. Disabling some cookies may affect how the Site functions. International transfers

We are based in Israel and operate in the United States. Your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in Israel, the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country.

Where required, we put in place appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Site or submitting information, you understand that your information may be processed in these locations.

Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, including assessing your application, providing the Services, and maintaining the alumni community, and thereafter as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Under Israeli law

Under the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981 (as amended), you have the right to review personal information we hold about you and to request that it be corrected, amended or deleted where it is inaccurate, incomplete, unclear or out of date. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.

Under U.S. / California law

Depending on your state of residence, U.S. privacy laws may give you rights regarding your personal information. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:

  • Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you;
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to exceptions;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell personal information); and
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will verify your request and respond as required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. Residents of other jurisdictions may have similar rights under applicable law, and we will honor them to the extent required.

Third-party links & children

Third-party links. The Site may link to third-party websites and resources (for example, faculty pages or venue sites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Children's privacy. The Site and Services are intended for business professionals and are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be indicated as appropriate.
